A Tuscan bedroom can be soothing or dramatic, depending on your desired home style.  It can remind you of your favorite vacation spot or be the getaway vacation that you never got to go on.  The design style can be rustic to fit either genders or you can add more femininity to the room. This can blend stainless steel benches, a double leather bed and a dressing table stool if you stick with a warm color palette.  One of the advantages to Tuscan design is these styles of home often deal with smaller rooms so you can still have design style even if you don’t have a large master street.  A Tuscan bedroom theme can make a city loft feel more like home or just add character to new construction.

Tuscan colors are inherently rich such as Tuscany gold and Tuscan red.  These colors could potentially overwhelm a bedroom, so tone them down.  Bring yellow into a neutral colored room by using an oversized spray of yellow flowers, either sunflowers or wildflowers. You may want to try mauve shades for a feminine room.  A Tuscan theme focuses on nature, so leave use minimal window treatments so the light will stream into the space. You may want to install natural wood molding around the windows to give them more character. You can even turn a sunroom an addition into a bedroom if you follow building codes.  This will give your Tuscan bedroom more character because you may be working with paneled ceilings, stucco exteriors, and a tile or brick floor.

Tuscan interior design can be opulent.  Pile pillows on the bed and use pillow shams to make your everyday pillows decorative. You can give the walls the look of plaster to add an aged appearance to a Tuscan bedroom.  You’ll want to use a base coat that is close to the top coat so the room looks sophisticated and blend it well for a professional appearance.   Tuscan bedding can be minimal or elegant.  You’ll want to mix patterns in with floral prints.  The florals should be understand and focus more on embroidery and vines so it doesn’t look country.  You can layer a chenille throw on top of the bed.  Look for fabrics that have a sheen to them that are soft to the touch.

Tuscan bedroom furniture is rich and intricate.  You may want to invest in a four poster bed or try a canopy. The canopy can be made out of yellow and gold damask and go from floor to ceiling.  For a modern take on Tuscan style drape a simple orange sheer over the top of a four poster bed.  You can also use a metal bed in a room for a more understated appearance.  You can spray paint the frame to look like its rusted which will also serve as a spot of color in the room.  Tuscan furniture can be expensive, but it also has an elegant look that will rarely go out of style.  Choose pieces that you love so they can turn them into heirloom furniture that is passed down from generation to generation.
