Beach flooring can add a lot of character to your room. Often times the flooring is one of the elements that really a date space. Whether you’re working in a kitchen, living room or master bedroom just changing out the flooring can really make the entire room feel outdated. You do need to be careful when you try to pick this and make it work with any theme because you can easily get sick of it or even turn off homebuyers if you put your house on the market in the future. Here are a few tips for wise design decisions with beach flooring.

One of the ways to make your flooring feel more casual instantly is just to go with a lighter color. You can find a very whitewashed wood. This will make a small space seem a lot bigger. This can really work well with a beach theme. Plus, it will also work with other design directions that you decide to go in the future. Light colors can make small room seem bigger so this a great option if you don’t want to have a material weighing down your space which is also a great tip for a beach sofa. This is even true of what you put on top of the floor whether it’s a small desk, mahogany desk, black desk, cheap desk, or a classic desk.

A carpet can even work in different design styles. This is a very cost-effective way to decorate and it’s also very durable. You just need to find ways to make it feel more casual. You could inexpensively find a neutral color or even go with a shag carpet that will be a lot less formal feeling.

If you are actually designing for a beach house you really need to take a lot of different things into consideration. One of these would be sand and water. You might want to go with a tile or vinyl at least in the main traffic areas of your house. You don’t want an actual wood floor and you don’t want to get a lot of sand in the carpet. You really need to be practical about your design style and then figure out how to work it in with your theme once you figure out the durability and cleaning aspects of it.

If you just want the feeling of a beach you could almost get the same pattern by going with a cork floor. This can be quite comfortable to walk on. At the same time it has a lot of character to it and it might even remind you of a vintage home. It’s a different option from going with the typical wood floors that are so popular now.
