Venetian mirrors have a rich history as well as being very decorative. According to wikipedia this has been used in palaces. It was also the origin of plate glass mirrors and it used mercury. However, now it refers to more of a unique frameless style of mirror with lots of etching. This is one of the more expensive mirrors that you can buy. Since it is such a classical style you can make sure that you get a unique look.

One way that you can really change this up is just with the shape of the piece. Sure, this comes in squares and circles. However, with all of the different mirrored pieces you can get octagons or abstract shapes.

You can find this style on a lot more than just a wall mirror. It’s also a common style on mirrored furniture. This could be anything to a lamp or a desk. If you’re on a budget try a small shelf, sconce, or lamp. This is a way to get a lot of reflection in your room and is perfect for small spaces or dark wall colors.

Be inspired by this style for a bathroom. You could just paint your basic vanity white, gray or silver. You could also replace it with a mirrored version. Then it makes a lot of sense to bring in Venetian mirrors; they’ll definitely be different than your basic medicine cabinet.

This can also be a collection that you build over time. In this case you’ll really want to use it in place of artwork. Do this by hanging several on the walls. You’ll need to really hunt at antique stores and thrift shops or just go with cheaper reproductions because these pieces can be so inexpensive. You can even bring this in on accessories such as toothbrush holders, waste baskets, or picture frames. Usually choosing matching accessory sets can be very cheesy but this is something that isn’t seen a lot and it’s pretty neutral so it’s really going to be worth the extra expense.

Look for ways to make this more modern. You can do this just with the addition of color. This could be simple enamel and this is going to be one of the least expensive options out there. It can even work for a princess theme because it’s going to be more elegant than a typical mirror and even if it’s more expensive it can grow with your child because it is so chic.

There are two basic hallmarks you should watch out for. These are lots of different layered mirror pieces to form a frame as well as etching. The etching traditionally showcases ivy and vines. Remember to use it in unusual ways like the front of a wardrobe. This is a lot more sophisticated than basic mirrored closet doors but still gives you a floor length mirror so you can check out your overall look.
